Information about MS Høydal
On June 20th, 2012, MS Høydal, the world’s first gas-powered cargo ship, was delivered from the Turkish shipyard Tersan to its final destination in Myre, Norway. Fully equipped with high-tech Rolls Royce Bergen engines and a 2,200-ton load capacity, the vessel is set to serve fish farming facilities in Vesterålen, Norway. The production of M/S Høydal represents a giant leap in the direction of incentivizing the production of environmentally friendly cargo vessels, as well as a broader desire for sustainable aquaculture. Thanks to unique high-efficiency, low-emission engine technology, gas-powered vessels like the Høydal allow for upwards of 90% less NOx emissions.
The vessel hosts a crew of 5 plus an intern.
