The construction of 2 live fish carriers; NB1088 and NB1089 to be built for Nordlaks is continuing rapidly in Tersan shipyard.

Tersan has completed the keel lay of NB1088 and has started to block erection process. The contracts with the main sub-contractors have been completed in the meanwhile. The vessel is planned to be launched by the end of this summer.

On the other hand ; the steel cutting of the second vessel; NB1089 has been proceeding. The vessels are expected to be delivered in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

These two “green vessels” will have the technology to reduce C02 emission to 1864 tonnes per year by using land flow, battery pack and LED lighting. Using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as an energy carrier, the vessels will cut particulate emissions into air providing 30% reduction of CO2 emissions (in addition to the reduction associated with land flow, battery and LED lights) and 90% reduction of NOX emissions.

The design of the vessels is purely gas-electric (liquefied natural gas, LNG), and with absolutely no diesel on board – neither for propulsion nor for power generation.

Both vessels are designed by NSK Ship design in Harstad with the concept of a clean LNG / battery solution, which also reduces fuel costs compared with the use of traditional live fish carriers.

Nordlaks and Tersan will make an inspirational impact together on greenhouse gas emissions with the construction of these 2 vessels. They will contribute in new energy and climate technologies to be developed so Norway can become a low-emission society.
